Bump Physio at Home: Online Physiotherapy Sessions

Did you know that we offer online physiotherapy consultations? We have received such positive feedback from our clients that they are here to stay. Our team uses a secure, online video conferencing platform to be able to deliver quality physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation services in your own home, office, or even on vacation. Think of it as Facetime with your physio!

How does online physiotherapy benefit you?

  • Be able to start/continue your treatment plan from home!

  • No need to leave home - a great option if it is difficult to find childcare, painful to sit/drive to appointments, or if you are not comfortable with in-person visits

  • Often more flexible scheduling and may be easier to get an appointment sooner

  • An opportunity to communicate with your practitioner face-to-face, without masks!

Here a few ways we use online sessions as part of our treatment plan at Bump Physio:

Initial Assessments

Did you know that 90% of our diagnosis comes from hearing your story?

An online initial assessment takes the pressure off to race to the physical exam! Some clients are nervous, anxious, and worried about a pelvic exam, and doing your initial appointment online allows you more time to connect with your physio first.

During your initial online consult, we will:

  • Take a thorough history of your symptoms, medical history, birth story

  • Assess your posture, alignment, breathing, and movement patterns

  • Discuss your treatment goals, find out what is important to you, and set up a plan of care

  • Provide education, breathing techniques, activity modifications, and simple strategies to start doing TODAY to help improve your symptoms

  • Demonstrate exercises and/or scar massage techniques if applicable

  • Answer all of your questions!

Prenatal Pelvic Floor Education Sessions

Many of our clients benefit from some pelvic floor prenatal education prior to giving birth and this is easily done with an online consult!

Early Postpartum Visit

Do you have lots of questions about your birth? Want to get a head start on your recovery? If so, consider booking an online early postpartum visit, around 2-3 weeks after giving birth. Since we are unable to perform an internal assessment until 6-8 weeks postpartum, after you have been cleared by your medical provider, an online appointment is perfect!

At this visit we can:

  • Listen to your birth story

  • Provide early postpartum exercises to get started on

  • Scar care education and massage techniques

  • Answer your pelvic health questions

  • Provide tips for bladder and bowel health

  • Provide tips on breastfeeding positioning, babywearing/carrying techniques)

                                              Home Check

Seeing you in your home environment can be so helpful for us as we help you navigate the repetitive daily tasks that can lead to injury. Sometimes we will ask our clients to bring in pictures of their home set-ups, but with an online session, we can see you in that setup!

Some examples of things we can assess and provide tips on during a home check:

  • Lifting mechanics from the crib/ bassinette/change table

  • Feeding positions/chair

  • Sleeping position/bed mobility

  • Home gym/exercise equipment

  • Home office/workstation set up and ergonomic suggestions

  • Include your child or partner into your session if you would like!

Exercise Rehab

This is EASILY done with an online session. Our incredible pelvic floor exercise rehabilitation specialists have years of experience working with online pelvic floor rehabilitation, so you know you are still going to get an excellent session at home.

Is it covered by extended benefits?

Most extended health insurance companies as well as ICBC are continuing to cover online/telehealth sessions but please check with your specific provider if you have questions about your individual plan coverage.

Disclaimer: Please note, that we will only suggest an online appointment if it’s appropriate for you. In some cases, an in-person visit is still the best option. If you have questions or would like to see which is the best option for you, please feel free to reach out to the clinic for more information!

We’d be happy to help.

We are a full-service pelvic health clinic. Do not hesitate to give us a call to see if we are the right fit to help you achieve your goals.
